Today we sat down with M3lm0th for an interview. He runs the Call of Duty competition for the multiplay iSeries events. He is also the founder of the oldest and biggest xbox live gaming league, the WGL. He talks to us today on i46, and his plans for the future for both WGL and iSeries.
Did you create the WGL, and when did you become the head admin for COD in iSeries?
M3lm0th: I created the WGL in the summer of 2009 for no other reason that their was no other leagues in the console scene apart from the GB ladder system and being an ex pc gamer I couldn't understand why. As for iSeries I did not become the head COD admin until much later and infact I have only been in this role for just over 6 months.
What are your thoughts on the teams that are confirmed to play in i46?
M3lm0th: Although this is only our second event in regards to MW3 and we are quite unknown in the console scene we are still lucky enough to be supported by the best teams in europe. 4K, SK, Dignitas, TCM, Prophecy will all be in attendance and I would suggest the reason for this is because these teams are not fundamentally Console teams but PC orgs and they have a long long history with iseries and multiplay. We are also really pleased to confirm that we have our first team from NA in attendance with apex.collapse coming over.
Which teams do you think are going to win/choke?
M3lm0th: As a head admin I would not really like to pick one team to win or choke but I guess the answer to that question would be I believe we will get the winner and the choker out of the following 6 teams 4K,Apex.Collapse, Dignitas, Prophecy, SK and TCM
What do you think attendence is going to be like, compared to the last iSeries?
M3lm0th: By the looks of things we will see an increase on i45 which is all we can ask for as we slowly build our reputation up in the console world. It is pleasing to see some of the top teams and players to publicly say they already think iseries is their favourite event and hopefully we can build on this for i47.
TCM beating Collapse, in the WGL final, what are your thoughts on that with most people believing American teams are stronger?
M3lm0th: I would say im not too surprised that TCM won that event as it would be disrespectful to TCM to suggest they were not the favourites going into that game purely due to the fact they had a host advantage. I look forward to seeing the rematch on LAN.
What are the plans for WGL or iSeries in the future?
M3lm0th: The future for WGL is to keep expanding on the complete platform we offer to our community, We were the first community in the UK to offer studio quality live streams and we are constantly improving on that. As well as other things including allowing people to bet on games. We are also about to launch a CS:GO league which we have big plans for. In regards to iSeries I really set myself a basica challenge for every event and that is to improve on the previous event by at least 25% and I look forward to doing the UKs (if not the world) first BO2 LAN.
Do you see the WGL expanding to PS3?
M3lm0th: I would very much doubt if but if their is some avid PS3 users out their who wanted to run a league we would be more than happy to talk to them.
Do you think BLOPS 2 is going live up to the hype? If so, are more events in both iSeries and WGL going to be held?
M3lm0th: Its good to see the features that the PC scene have taken for granted at long last being delivered to console gamers and its really down to the console scene to respond now. Hopefully if all the different orginisations start working together to achieve a common goal it will be a huge success and yes I can confirm that the WGL will be holding many events on BO2 and i47 will be doing BO2.
Anything else to add?
M3lm0th: I hope everyone has a good LAN :)
